• Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are at an increased risk of experiencing accidental injuries.
• Safety skills training may help reduce or prevent worsening of injuries and improve independence for individuals with IDD.
• The current chapter reviews research on teaching emergency response skills, including first-aid, fire safety, seeking help with lost, and making emergency calls, and clinical recommendations are provided.
